anticommands

2013

The aim of this series is to visually resignify an omnipresent element of the urban landscape: electrical cables. Commonly perceived as an interruption of the landscape and architecture, the cables are transformed into supports for written messages. The proposal stems from a reflection on the visual impact of these structures on cities. Since they cannot be removed for economic reasons — a possibility limited to countries with greater resources — the intervention is presented as an act of appropriation. Through phrases that invite reflection on existence or awaken a sense of humor, the cables cease to be “visual noise” and become channels of communication with the viewer.
