trompe l´oeil
2006–2008
This series draws on the tradition of trompe l´oeil, present since ancient painting, when artists sought to create images capable of being mistaken for reality. Here, I use photography with a similar intention: to deceive the eye through mirrors, scale, and perspective. What is small can appear large, and what is large can appear small. The series questions what we see and the presumed objectivity of the photographic image.
