This piece poses a critical reflection on the value of art and the motivations behind collecting. What drives someone to acquire a work? Aesthetic pleasure, conceptual weight, economic potential, or a mix of all three? The title -a direct allusion to the grading system for precious stones- functions as a paradox that questions the very notion of “value” within the art world. From this perspective, the work positions itself as a critique of the market system and its assignment of prices to the intangible: the aesthetic experience and symbolic content of art. A reflection on the function of art within a system that seeks to quantify the unquantifiable.
